Upgrade and Downgrade MikroTik RouterOS

• THE PURPOSE

1. To know upgrade mikrotik version on RouterBoard
2. To know downgrade mikrotik version on RouterBoard

• THE BASIC CONCEPTS

Upgrade is an activity undertaken to update / level up or updating features that are in the application so as to benefit more typically reduce bugs in applications / software versions earlier. Downgrade is to lower the level of the previous application. Downgrade done when there is a bug or discrepancies in the current proxy. For example there are certain features that are not running as expected.

• CONFIGURATION

Downgrade

Download OS mikrotik first we want to use. Make sure the OS which we downloaded in accordance with RouterBoard we have. You can download the OS Mikrotik on www.routeros.co.id and select routeros-mipsbe-(version).npk

- x86 is used for PC Router, RB230
- mipsbe used for this type of RB400, RB700, SXT, Omnitik and Groove
- mipsle used for RB100, RB500
- ppc / powerpc used for RB600, RB1000 and RB800.

I use RB951G-2HnD (mipsbe) that uses version 6.28 and the MikrotikOS I'll downgrade to version 5.26 .

The first copy the file by right-clicking on the file and select Copy

Then go to winbox and paste file

Wait for copy

if it is entered into System-) Packages and select a Downgrade

Then reboot your routerboard

if it is in a reboot,check the version of your routerboard,entered into System-)Resources

Upgrade

To do upgrade RouterOS on a RouterBoard before you have to have Mikrotik OS files that you can download on the official website of Mikrotik and select download

If already copy files .npk

go to the menu files and paste a file

if it reboot your routerboard

if it checks your version routerboard
